It's a pity...almost. Could have been one of the greatest Disney endings ever. I didn't realise it maxed out at 7000ft - that's pretty low (oxygen / temperature). And that landing was amazing. I've seen weather balloons come down at high speed during rocket testing at the joint US/Aust aerospace testing site at Woomera and they did *not* come down in a manner that would have allowed a kid to survive. That landing was magical, with the convoy tracking it perfectly.

If it turns out to be a hoax then the authorities had better get this 6yr old kid into the balloon and airborne immed.

They're saying now the kid's family was on Wife Swap and shit. The dad is involved in "extra-terrestrial experiments and the family often sleeps in their clothes to chase storms in the middle of the night".

Chasing storms is kinda cool. But maybe don't bring your kids along? Or don't chase storms and build experimental aircraft in your backyard when you have kids?
