I decided to head to the casino a little earlier than normal and that if I lost the first pot i played I was going to insta cash out and go get black out drunk. Well I was dealt AQos pretty early on and managed to take down a 3 way pot with a c-bet so I decided to stick it out. I followed Lioneers advice from my last blog to raise more preflop and it defnitely paid dividends. The fields were much smaller post flop and I seemed to get more respect on my c-bets as well, I'm sure pot size and bet size have a lot to do with that. I was also getting a lot better starting hands and had managed to grind up to about 350 from my starting stack of 200 without any major hands. i barely even saw a river, just picked up small and medium pots here and there.
I did manage to fuck up a hand pretty badly a couple hours into the session. I had AKos in MP, raised to twenty and got a caller in the SB. The flop came down K94 all clubs (I did not have a club). I c-bet for 30 and he called. The turn brought a 4th club and it went check/check. River was an offsuit blank and SB led out at me for 50. I thought his line was pretty weird and that he either had the nuts or maybe a weaker ace. He was beting nearly every river and had been busted with air a few times so I decided to try to to be a hero and pick off a bluff. I called, he turned up KTcc for the flopped nut flush and i sheepishly mucked. Yet another instance of me making a call when I am sure I am beat but I just cant let it go for some reason. Just a terrible call, but I would get my chips back from him shortly after.
Less than an orbit later I was dealt 33 UTG +2 and limp/called a $12 raise from the same guywho was on the button now, the SB also called. Flop was K73 (yes!) but it was all spades (doh!). SB checked to me, I bet out $25, they both called, uh oh. I am not a religious man but at this point I was praying for the board to pair. Turn comes 7 and I was fistpumping like DJ Pauly D in my head. The SB (who had about 70 behind) checked, I bet $75, button insta called, SB called as well. Now I was praying for the board not to pair again and counterfeit my hand. River was the 8d. I led for $100 and the button called asking if I had a flush... no sir, I have a boat. I almost did an "I'm on a boat" bit but that's not my style. Anyways, SB flopped a flush and button had trip 7's, and I scooped a $500 pot. I think I might have been able to get more on the river from the button as he didnt take long to call my hundred at all, but oh well.
Our table broke shortly after and kept doing my thing picking up pots in position and shit and at my peak had about 650 in front. I MAJORLY butchered another set of 3's when the flop came down all K93, this time all diamonds. My bet on the flop was so weak, the turn brought a 4th diamond, I mucked the river in disgust and it turns out one other player flopped two pair and the other guy made a flush on the turn. Either way I played it terribly. One last big hand happened right before I racked up when I had Q9hh in the CO. Table was 7 handed and I made it 15 to go, both blinds called. Flop came down QT9 w/ one heart. Checked to me and I bet out 40, they both called. Turn was the 8h giving me two pair and a flush draw, but mnaking a 4 card straight. SB checked, BB bet $50, I called and the SB minraised to 100, leaving about 75 behind. The BB went all in for about 400 total and it was back to me. There was like 700 (maybe a little more including the rest of the sb who obv wasnt folding) in the pot and I had to call 300 more. Obv I am up against a straight here but I did have 13 outs to make a boat or a flush, but I wasnt getting the right price and had to muck. Turn was Kc so I missed anyways, bonus.
Final Tally: +385

FML. Played another session and was only planning on playing an hour or two but I wound up getting stacked early w/ AK on an A63 board by a tricky player who had A6. Like I said, flop was A63 w/ two hearts, I was OOP and led into a $30 pot for 20, she bumped me up to 60 and I pushed like a donk. Only getting called by hands that beat me there I guess but I had over heard her talking with the guy on her right about raising with flush draws. So I figured that she might have AXhh, or 45hh or maybe even the same hand as me or best case AQ. Anyways -220 or so there. Then went card dead for the rest of the night playing at the most boring table in history. I couldnt take it anymore and switched tables But wound up whiffing a big flush draw with AKdd there. I also lost a decent pot with 2 pair in an unraised pot with K7 when the board came QT7 K 6 and I called a dudes river bet, he had KQ.
Final Tally: -$300
Sick and shit
I have been deathly ill since Sunday. Saturday night I sarted sneezing and coughing and I am 95% sure it was from spending the past 7 days in a casino with a bunch of degenerates. I havent done fuck all the past few days except lay on the couch, sleep when I can (couple hours a night max, a lot of tossing/turning) and eat when i have an appetite. I am not nauseous but I dont really feel like eating and I the lack of food has drained me pretty good, getting dizzy standing up ftw.
Also, I haven't had a drink in like 10 days. This wasn't by design or anything. The card room I play at doesn't have a liquor license yet and tbh I just havent had the urge. I may go all of January without a drink if I can.
