I suck at poker

Wednesday Jan 06
Well what can I say about Wednesday. I played like shit, I ran like shit, and I was fucking card dead for most of the night again. It fucking sucks watching guys flop sets and make flushes and straights one seat away from you when you can't even pick up a decent starting hand. It really was gay to watch an old man call off 80 bucks preflop with AQ, another 120 on the flop of 39T, hit his ace on the turn and win a 600 pot (not vs me thank god, but he did wind up stacking me later on). Then when I finally do pick up KK , they get cracked and I have to fold the turn (-$50). And of course I go and make two terrible calls on the river when I know I am beat and even say "why am I calling?" (-$50 each time).
The biggest hand of the night went like so. I had about $185 and picked up JQhh in the cut off. Couple limpers to me and I made it $12. 4 callers and the flop came down QTx with 2 diamonds. The SB led out for 25 and everyone called to me. Now at this point I thought this would be a good spot to make a move at the pot. I figured I only had to get by the SB cause he would have got it all in preflop with KK/AA (he floated around 80-100 all night and was AIPF probably 10 times). If he had flopped a set of Q's or T's I think he would have checked hoping to CR allin. He could have had QT but I thought he was far more likely to have something like J9, KJ, or even JJ. So anyways I went all in for 185 total. The sb called his last 70ish, couple folds to the old man I mentioned earlier and he tanked for about 5 minutes and finally called with A8dd. Turn blank, river was a diamond and a 5 hundo pot was shipped to the geezer. I was kinda pissed cause the SB mucked his hand even after I asked what he had, some people think thats a bit of a dick move, but I like to know if I got my money in good.
All in all I was very disappointed with how everything went tonight, from being card dead for most of the night again, to getting unlucky in a couple spots, to making some terrible calls. Hopefully I can at least learn to trust my instincts soon when i know I need to laydown my hand.
Final tally: -360

Well another shitty session. I wasn't quite as card dead as before but I have played enough hands to know I can expect better starting hands, I also somehow manage to whiff every flop. Anyways I was at a pretty tough table and I probably should have changed tables but I couldn't be arsed at the time. I couldn't get anything going and had basically donked off 50 bucks or so. I finally picked up AA but I had to fold to heavy action on a 789 flop so i lost the minimum there.
The only big hand I played I got raped by the poker gods again. I was dealt KJos in LP and bumped it to 15 and got two callers, one OTB and one UTG. The flop was K86 w/ 2 diamonds (I had one diamond). UTG checked, I tried to bet 30 but got called on a string bet when my chips stuck together and the dealer only let me bet 20. Button called and UTG folded. Turn was Jh giving me two pair and putting two flush draws on the board. The button had about 85 behind so I just put in a stack of 100 and he tanked. He finally called after 3-4 minutes, he showed ATdd for the flush draw + gutterball, river was 2d, I got up and left in a huff.
Final tally: -195
Other stuff
Obv disappointed in the last two sessions but at least I am getting my money in good in the big pots, just getting hooped imo. I am def starting to see some leaks in my game, one big one being I am pretty bad in big multi way pots (ie 5+ people) unless I flop huge. I also need to get a bit more aggressive pre, I think I am being passive due to whiffing what seems like 95% of flops I see. Also, I need to get better at flopping sets, I have flopped one set in the past 3 sessions.
Also, the AZN milf I mentioned earlier has a bf so that's out the window. I was snooping over her shoulder pretending to be watching the action on her table when she was texting someone douche named Lawrence "I love you too".

lol stalker.
I am decent at best at these live cash games, but the only thing I can think of as advice is to raise more preflop.
The first hand you had a couple limpers in front for 2(right?) You pop it to 12 in position with JQ(i'm fine with raising there)
The players at these games just aren't going to be folding unless you put probably 20 here. I would think the goal here would be to either take it down at that point, or get only 1 caller where it is alot easier to maneuver.
I did the same thing for a long time, and it usually just put me into some ugly spots in multi-way pots. Might be something you could try out sometimes.Posted Jan 8th, 2010 at 03:19 PM by LioneeR

you're playing fine. don't see anything wrong with the hands you played, even the multi-way pot. when sb has less than a hundred and there's a caller on that board, just ship it given you're the pre-flop raiser. you want to be betting/raising your good hands/medium values, not donk calling off. just reload on those niggas and keep value shipping when you lose a stack.
as far as being more aggressive pre, throw in a little more than the standard 3xBB +1 for every limper. those extra 5 bucks will make a difference in trimming down the field and play out the hand accordingly. gl snow nig.Posted Jan 9th, 2010 at 04:44 PM by USC
